The University of North Florida Coastal
Biology Flagship Program is partnering with Mayport Middle School
to offer the “Coastal Eco-Splorer” Summer Camp at Mayport
Middle School, a Duval
County public magnet school located at
2600 Mayport Road
in Atlantic Beach.
Coastal Eco-splorers will learn
about sample collection and identification, fossil hunting, wetland ecology,
climate change and sea-rise levels as well as how to be good environmental
stewards of our coast. All camp activities will be facilitated by UNF faculty
and Mayport Middle science teachers.
The coastal camp, for rising 6th
and 7th graders, will be held Monday through Friday, June 21-25,
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Monday through Friday, June 28-July 2, from 9 a.m. to
4 p.m. Cost is $250 for a one-week session. Camp participants must bring a
bagged lunch. Snack and drink will be provided.
Application and payment for a one-week
session is due by Friday, April 2. Checks should be made payable to the UNF
Coastal Biology Program.
