head women’s soccer coach Linda Hamilton was selected as one of 10
candidates picked to be on the 2010 Veteran Player Ballots for the
National Soccer Hall of Fame and Museum, located in Oneonta, N.Y.
This year’s ballot contained two former men’s U.S. World Cup members and two former women’s World Cup members, including Hamilton. It
also had five men who played in the North American Soccer League (NASL)
and one of the leading players in the original American Soccer League
(ASL) of the 1920’s.
was eligible due to being retired as a player for more than 10 years
and played in at least 20 full international games for the United States.
was a defender for the U.S. Women’s National Team and was a regular
starter that appeared in 71 international games. During her eight years
of service for our country, Hamilton played on two World Cup teams, the 1991 gold-medal squad and the 1995 bronze-medal team.
The final ballot will be distributed later in the month to all Hall of Famer voters.
