Florida’s Small Business Resource Network (SBRN) will offer a one-day
workshop, “The Entrepreneurs Law School: Be Informed, Reduce Your Risk,” from
7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the University Center on the University
of North Florida campus.
is designed to assist business owners and prospective owners with the legal
issues involved in running a business. For the first time ever, all the legal advisors
and professionals involved in corporate law will share their expertise to arm
participants with the information they need to know.
“Gaining this amount of expertise and information in one
place and for less than the cost of one hour of one of these experts’ time is
an invaluable opportunity for start-up or established businesses,” says Beth
Hallock, Mercantile Bank senior vice president and chair of the workshop
panel of professionals will cover topics that are especially relevant to small
business owners from establishing the lawyer/client relationship to assembling
a team of advisors to negotiate contracts as well as lawsuits and employment
issues. Hands-on breakout sessions will cover collecting money, avoiding
bankruptcy, worker’s compensation, non-compete agreements and more.

Development Center Network, The
Small Business Development Center at UNF, the State of Florida,
the City of Jacksonville
and member firms that serve small business.
The SBRN assists as an
information resource to help connect small businesses with the professional
expertise they need to achieve greater success. Members of the SBRN include
experienced private-sector professionals in the fields of law, accounting,
insurance, financing and management, business continuity planning, disaster
preparedness and recovery, as well as non-profit organizations providing small
business assistance and corporations serving small business.
