UNF Offers Logistics and Supply Chain Education Certification

The Center for Economic and Workforce Development, a unit within the Division of Continuing Education at the University of North Florida, has established the Institute for Logistics and Supply Chain Education. The Institute is now offering certification courses from entry level for local workers to global industry executives.

The new certification courses include the International Trade Certification Program-Export Series in partnership with the Small Business Development Center at UNF, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Customer Service Management for Logistics as well as Transportation Economics and Management. All classes take place at the University Center on the UNF campus.

Below are the following courses:
• International Trade Certificate Program: Export Series—Class starts Monday, Sept. 29, and runs through Monday, Nov. 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $295 for six sessions. Course introduces small business owners to every aspect of exporting. It’s designed for small businesses that are new to export as well as growth-oriented businesses that want a better understanding of the opportunities and resources available.
• Transportation Economics and Management—Class starts on Monday, Nov. 17, and runs through Monday, Dec. 15, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $845 for nine sessions. This 24-hour course addresses critical issues in domestic and international transportation. You will leave with a thorough understanding of the growing importance of this function and how to optimize its value as a part of the total supply chain.
• Customer Service Management for Logistics and Supply Chain—Class starts on Monday, Dec. 2, and runs through Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $595 for five sessions. The customer service department contributes greatly to the relationship between a company and its customers. During this 16-hour course, you will see how new CRM tools are being utilized and will be able to assess which of these might be applicable to your operations.
• Supply Chain Management—Class starts in the spring of 2009. Cost is $995 for 12 sessions. This course provides a general overview of supply chain management in a global economy and identifies how big a role it plays in meeting a company’s business plan. You will gain an understanding of how each function affects other functions—total supply chain management—and learn how to develop a comprehensive supply chain strategy to support your overall business objectives.
• Logistics Management—Class starts in the spring of 2009. Cost is $995 for 12 sessions. This 40-hour course will demonstrate how improving logistics performance in customer service, fill rates, response time, inventory turns, transportation efficiencies, and warehousing productivity translate into improved operating efficiencies and reduced cost. You will be exposed to several new and different approaches to assist in the optimization of your individual supply chains.
