Osprey Productions at the University of North Florida presents Jo Dee Messina and Billy Currington in concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Arena on campus.

Tickets are $10 for UNF students, $15 with a military ID and $20 for the general public. Doors open at 7 pm, and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the UNF Ticket Box Office at (904) 620-2878 and are also available at all Ticketmaster locations. All seats are general admission.

With the release of “Unmistakable,” Messina steps firmly into the front ranks of country singers. An album that displays both her songwriting prowess and her abilities as a co-producer, “Unmistakable” is above all a showcase for one of the genre’s most remarkable and distinctive voices.

She has sold five million albums and has had nine No. 1 singles in addition to two Grammy nominations and awards by the CMA and ACM. Messina gained attention with “Heads Carolina, Tails California” and “You’re Not in Kansas Anymore” from her first album. Her second album, “I’m Alright” with its back-to-back chart-toppers “Bye Bye” (ASCAP’s Song of the Year), “I’m Alright” and “Stand by Me,” made her a star. It went double platinum and was nominated for Album of the Year by the Academy of Country Music.

Currington burst onto the music scene in 2003 with his debut CD, which contained the powerful Top 10 hit “Walk a Little Straighter” and the fun Top 5 smash “I Got a Feelin’,” which was accompanied by the memorable video co-starring “Baywatch” TV star Gena Lee Nolin.

In his sophomore CD, “Doin’ Somethin’ Right,” Currington unveils a more mature Southern sound of blues-tinged country in songs such as the debut single, “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right,” “Why, Why, Why,” “Whole Lot More,” “Here I Am” and “She’s Got a Way With Me,” a duet with legendary singer Michael McDonald.
