The University of North Florida’s Division of Continuing Education is hosting the 21st Annual Administrative Professionals Conference&Expo from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at the Prime F. Osborn Convention Center in downtown Jacksonville.
This one-day intensive conference is the No. 1 conference in the region for administrative professionals. It’s where you can get the strategies, tools, techniques and ideas to meet your toughest on-the-job challenges.
New highlights for this year’s conference include 12 new and different educational breakout sessions, ranging from effective time management to adapting to organizational change to handling angry, hostile and negative people. There is also a project management track, a skill set that has been identified as a hot commodity for future success as an administrative professional.
A new three-hour super session, titled “Management&Supervisory Practices” is also included in this year’s conference. This session was designed for those administrative professionals who find they are spending more time overseeing or monitoring the work of others, versus doing the work themselves. Additionally, there will be two special Cafe’ Sessions in the Expo Hall on “Playing the Business Game” and “Membership Benefits and Advantages: International Association of Administrative Professionals.”
Andrew Wooten, a business security consultant and managing partner of Safety Awareness&Firearms Education, will be the keynote speaker and will discuss “Identity Theft in the Workplace: How to Protect Your Employer and Yourself.” He is regarded as one of the country’s leading authorities in crime prevention and self-defense. Wooten is a certified victim services and crime prevention practitioner with the Department of Justice, the Office of the Attorney General of Florida. He is also a certified trainer with the National Rifle Association and the United States Marine Corps. Wooten earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from San Diego State University and is in the process of earning his master’s degree in education from the University of Phoenix.
The fee for the conference is $175 and includes all educational sessions and materials, a continental breakfast, lunch with keynote speaker, expo, afternoon refreshments, gifts and door prizes.
