The University of North Florida announced this week the hiring of a new administrator. Robert L. Wood will serve as the new dean of continuing education at UNF.
Wood came to the University from Central Carolina Technical College, where he served as dean of continuing education and workforce development for the past five years, where he doubled the number of classes held and the number of contact hours. Prior to his appointment at Central Carolina Technical College, he served as principal and athletic director of Greenwood Christian School. Additionally, he served as director of small business and industrial training at Piedmont College as well as president and chief operating officer of Robert Wood and Associates, Inc.
“I am delighted that Bob has joined us as dean of Continuing Education. He brings to UNF a varied background that includes serving in this same capacity,” said Mark Workman, UNF’s acting provost and vice president of academic affairs. “It’s already apparent that he will lead that already successful unit to even broader reach and greater productivity than it has achieved thus far.”
Wood will provide leadership in developing, promoting and delivering educational programs that meet the diverse needs of lifelong learners. He will also oversee Continuing Education staff and will work with more than 500 business partners.
He received both his bachelor’s degree in political science and his master’s degree in public administration from Indiana University.
