Computing, Engineering and Construction Symposium

JACKSONVILLE -- The College of Computing, Engineering and Construction at the University of North Florida will hold the second student-organized Symposium and Career Showcase on Thursday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University Center. The event is free.

During the morning session, chief information officers and information technology directors from the Jacksonville area will discuss the effects of globalization upon the IT industry. A lunchtime presentation will feature Park Beeler, chief executive of Trinity Partners, on the Jacksonville Network Access Point. The afternoon session will include Dr. John F. Alexander, Distinguished Professor in engineering at UNF. Alexander will discuss some of his research interests.

Other guest speakers from industry, academia and government will present 45-minute lectures during breakout sessions.

UNF students will present their research findings and projects throughout the day, and a journal will be distributed on compact disc.

Employers in engineering, information technology and building construction management also will be available during the event.
