JACKSONVILLE – The scope of research at the University of North Florida will be on display next week as part of the first annual UNF Research Day.
On Tuesday, Jan. 20, faculty from all of UNF’s five colleges will display posters and demonstrate research they have undertaken in the past year. Bio-medical research, emergency notification systems and geographic information projects are among the 45 projects that will be on display.
UNF faculty will be competing for cash awards in five areas based on posters or displays of their research.
Jim Collom, director of the Division of Sponsored Research and Training and the organizer of the project, said the event is designed to call attention to the increasing role of research at UNF and its ties to the community.
“This is intended to be a celebration of excellence and a demonstration of the substantial contributions to research and education that are made at UNF,” he said.
The displays and posters will be available for public viewing from 3:30 to 7 p.m. in Rooms 1602-04 of the Robinson Student Center. An awards and recognition ceremony is set for 5 p.m.
