UNF names development director
Koren Borges is the new director of development for the University of North Florida’s College of Education and Human Services. Her primary responsibility will be to raise money for the college.
Prior to coming to UNF, Borges had a business career with the Vodafone Group, the world’s largest wireless telecommunications company with customers in 28 countries. She spent her career living and working overseas, including stays in Mexico, Egypt, Malta and Brazil.
Borges, 38, has a master of arts from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. She also has a master of business administration degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
“Koren has been very successful in developing proposals and finding financial support for them in the corporate community,” said Dr. Katherine Kasten, dean of the College of Education and Human Services. “Her experience will also be an asset as the College of Education seeks ways to internationalize our teacher-education programs. Koren radiates energy and enthusiasm and is eager to make a difference in Jacksonville and the University community.”
Borges, who lives on the Southside, said she looks forward to personally interacting with donors to determine their interests in relation to what the college needs. “My job is interesting,” she said. “It’s doing something adding value to the community, which is important to me.”
