The University of North Florida Presidential Search Committee met Tuesday, April 1, to review the list of candidates presented March 26 and to accept new candidates for president of the University.
Eight candidates were added to the list, and they are:
-- P. George Benson, dean and Simon S. Selig Jr. Chair for Economic Growth, Terry College of Business, University of Georgia (Athens, Ga.)
-- Andrew R. Bodman, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, Western Washington University (Bellingham, Wash.)
-- Karen S. Haynes, president, University of Houston-Victoria, (Victoria, Texas)
-- Kathleen Long, dean of College of Nursing, University of Florida (Gainesville, Fla.)
-- John W. Miller, chancellor, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (Whitewater, Wis.)
-- Steven G. Poskanzer, interim president, State University of New York at New Paltz (New Paltz, N.Y.)
-- Linda Bunnell Shade, former senior vice president for higher education for The College Board
-- Diane Vines, vice chancellor of External Relations and Economic Development, Oregon University System.
The committee will meet April 7 to pare the list. Those selected will have one-day visits tentatively scheduled for the week of April 21. Candidates will have the opportunity to meet with students, faculty and staff and the Jacksonville community.
The search committee will recommend a smaller number of candidates to the full Board of Trustees. Those candidates will make a second visit to the campus before the board picks the next president of the University.
