Sociology and Anthropology

JeffriAnne Wilder is an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology, with a concentration on Women’s Studies and Gender Research from the University of Florida. Dr. Wilder joined the UNF faculty in the fall of 2008. Her primary areas of teaching and scholarship include: colorism, race, class, and gender; feminist theory and methodology; theories of race and racism; and the sociology of higher education. JeffriAnne’s research has been published in journals such as the Journal of Black Studies, the Journal of Family Issues, and the Journal of School and Public Relations.

Dr. Wilder is currently the Associate Chair of the UNF Commission on Diversity and Inclusion (CODI), and has served for the past two years as the Chairperson of the Sociology/Anthropology departmental Undergraduate Student Symposium. Since joining the UNF faculty, Dr. Wilder has also been very engaged in the Jacksonville community, having participated in the inaugural UNF Community Scholars program, and working closely with the Ritz Theater and Museum to develop a program for local 8-12th grade youth.
