Employee Education Program

The employee education program allows University of North Florida faculty, administrative and support staff employees who have been employed for at least six months, and who are in good standing, the opportunity to take classes at UNF, tuition free. Please refer to the FAQ below for more information on the requirements and benefits of the program.

Who is eligible to participate in the program?

The employee education program is open to both full-time and part-time (0.5 FTE) faculty, administrative and support staff employees who have been employed for at least six months within a budgeted position, and who are currently in good standing. The program is not open to student employees, adjuncts or other personnel service (OPS) employees.
What does the program cover?

The employee education program provides the following benefits:

For full-time employees - tuition-free classes, up to six credit hours per semester, at UNF.

For part-time (0.5 FTE) employees - tuition free classes, up to three credit hours per semester, at UNF.
What does the program not cover?

The program does not cover the tuition costs for thesis, dissertation, internships, directed independent study, non-credit courses, or sponsored credit program offerings.

Additionally, the program will not cover additional fees including, but not limited to the Wall Street Journal fee, Week of Welcome fee, Osprey ID Card fee, Orientation fee, Distance Learning Fee or the state-mandated Repeat Surcharge fee.
Do I have to apply for admission to the University?

In order to participate in the program, employees must apply for admission to UNF as either a degree or non-degree seeking student. Regular application deadlines and admission criteria apply. Once admitted to the University, employees must register for classes either online or in person at One Stop Student Services. How are tuition payments posted?

The employee education program will only waive the tuition costs for those eligible classes specifically listed on the employee education program form. The tuition costs are paid up-front by the University, but will not appear on the employee's account until after the payment deadline.
What if I withdraw from a class that the program has paid for?

In the event that an employee withdraws from a class after the add/drop period, the employee will not be eligible to use the employee education program benefit for the next semester. The employee does not have to repay the University for the waived tuition costs.
Are there any grade requirements for classes covered by the program?

The employee is responsible for remaining in good academic standing for any courses covered by the employee education program:

For undergraduate courses - the employee must earn a 'C' or better

For graduate courses - the employee must earn a 'B' or better

Failure to meet the minimum grade requirements will prevent the employee from using the employee education program benefit for the next semester. The employee does not have to repay the University for the waived tuition costs.
Can I give my eligible hours to my spouse/dependent/domestic partner?

Employees may not transfer their eligible hours to a spouse, dependent or domestic partner. There is a separate benefit and policy specifically for the spouse, dependent or domestic partner of an eligible employee. How do I participate in the employee education program?
- Verify you meet all the eligibility requirements. Refer to the Employee Educational Assistance Program policy for more information.
- Seek admission into the University as a degree or non-degree seeking student. Contact One Stop Student Services for more information.
- Register for eligible classes online or in-person at One Stop Student Services. Refer to the One Stop employee education program page for more information.
