Ashley Barnes Memorial Fellowship for School Counseling



  • Meet admission requirements and be accepted to the University of North Florida
  • Be enrolled as a graduate student in the School Counseling  program in the College of Education and Human Services
  • Earn a minimum GPA of at least 3.75
  • Have completed one full year of coursework at the time of the award




  • Enroll at part-time (6 credit hours) each semester and earn a minimum of 12 credits by the end of each academic year
  • Maintain a GPA of at least 3.75
  • Comply with all University regulations, rules and codes of conduct governing students on campus
  • Consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor
  • Remain in good standing as a student




  • Within the essay attached to your application, applicants should include a response to the question:  “As a future school counselor, what do you see as the special needs of children in foster care? “.





  • No student will be eligible to receive more than one semester of fellowship support.
