Elizabeth & Irwin Zekaria Deaf Education Endowed Scholarship / Fellowship

CRITERIA:

  • Meet admissions requirements of the University of North Florida, and be accepted in the College of Education and Human Services with preference given to junior, senior or graduate-level students in the Deaf Education Program
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need for undergraduate students


STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Enroll full-time (12 credit hours) each semester and earn a minimum of 24 credits by the end of each academic year for undergraduate students
  • Enroll part-time (6 credit hours) each semester and earn a minimum of 18 credits by the end of each academic year for graduate students
  • Consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor
  • Comply with all University regulations, rules and codes of conduct governing students on campus
  • Remain in good standing as a student


SPECIAL ESSAY REQUIREMENT:

  • Within the essay attached to your application, Deaf Education majors should explain the reason(s) they chose Deaf Education as a major.

RENEWAL:

  • Applicants for subsequent years must meet the following criteria:
    • Undergraduate students: enroll full-time each semester and earn an additional 24 credits by the end of each Spring term
    • Graduate students: enroll part-time each semester and earn 18 credits by the end of each Spring term
    • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 for the freshman and sophomore years, 2.5 for the junior and senior years, and a GPA of 3.0 for graduate study
    • No student will be eligible to receive more than 4 semesters of scholarship support as an undergraduate student
    • No student will be eligible to receive more than 4 semesters of fellowship support if enrolled as a graduate student
