Dannehl & Kevin Twomey Endowed Scholarship / Fellowship

CRITERIA:

  • Meet admissions requirements of the University of North Florida, and be accepted in the College of Education and Human Services
  • Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 for junior and senior students, and a 3.5 for graduate students
  • Pursue a degree in Education with preference given to students pursuing a teaching career in an urban school (an urban school is defined as a school with a high percentage of students on free or reduced lunch programs, a high mobility and absentee rate, a high percentage of minority and immigrant students, and a high percentage of low socio-economic status students)

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enroll full-time (12 credit hours) each semester and earn a minimum of 24 credits by the end of each academic year for undergraduate students
  • Enroll part-time (6 credit hours) each semester and earn a minimum of 12 credits by the end of each academic year for graduate students
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of at least 3.0 for junior or senior students, and at least a 3.5 for graduate students
  • Consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor
  • Comply with all University regulations, rules and codes of conduct governing students on campus
  • Remain in good standing as a student

  • Within the essay attached to your application, explain why you want to pursue a teaching career in an urban school

RENEWAL:

  • Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference, pending availability of funding, and if all scholarship / fellowship requirements have been met.
  • Undergraduate or transfer students will be eligible to receive up to 4 semesters or 65 credit hours of scholarship support.
  • Graduate students will be eligible to receive up to 6 semesters or 36 credit hours of fellowship support.
