The University of North Florida participates in the Federal Direct Loan Program for students and parents. An error-free FAFSA is required for each academic year a student wishes to borrow a Direct Loan. All students (undergraduate, post baccalaureate, and graduate levels) must enroll in a minimum of six degree-applicable credit hours and be in an eligible Satisfactory Academic Progress status in order to receive a Direct Loan disbursement. Non-degree seeking students are not eligible to borrow Direct Loans.
Direct Loans are federally insured, low-interest education loans for students and parents. These include the Direct Subsidized Loan, the Direct Unsubsidized Loan, the Direct Parent PLUS Loan, and the Direct Grad PLUS Loan program for graduate and professional students.
After you have accepted a loan, you may need to complete two additional steps:
For full information on completing these two requirements, visit UNF's Loan Instructions website.
If you have borrowed a Federal Direct Loan at any time you will be required to complete Exit Counseling under the following circumstances:
Exit Counseling is mandatory and provides important information you need to prepare to repay your federal student loans. Failure to complete Exit Counseling may prevent disbursement of future term financial aid, and or release of transcripts and diplomas.
