Keeping your Aid

Enrollment

The number of hours you take each semester can have an affect on the amount of financial aid you receive.

• Some financial aid programs will pro-rate based on the number of hours you take each term- if you’re less than full time the program will pay out less than the full rate.
• Many aid programs have minimum hour requirements to pay out each semester.
• Others require you to attain a specified GPA or complete a specified number of hours each year.

Withdrawing 

If you receive federal financial aid and you withdraw or stop attending one or more of your classes, a portion of your aid may be reversed. Click here to read more about Withdrawals and Financial Aid or read the UNF Financial Aid Guide (pdf).

Satisfactory Academic Progress

All students must maintain specified grade point averages and proceed through their academic program at a pace leading to completion within a specified time frame, to qualify and remain eligible for assistance from federal financial aid programs. This means that you must: 

• Complete a minimum of 67% of the hours you enroll in each term. (This includes withdrawal hours.)
• Achieve a minimum GPA each semester (2.0 for Undergraduate students, 3.0 for Graduate students)
• Complete your degree requirements within a maximum number of hours (180 for Undergraduate students, 53 for Graduate students)
