Judy Sheklin, president of the Jacksonville Area National Organization for Women, is scheduled to make a presentation on "Redefining the 'F' Word: The 21st Century Feminist Movement" and facilitate a discussion.

Television's Judge Hatchett invited to speak

Judge Glenda Hatchett is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in the Student Union Ballroom. Hatchett presided over the two-time Emmy Award nominated syndicated show, "Judge Hatchett," which ran for nine seasons. She is the author of the national best-selling book, "Say What You Mean, Mean What You Say."

Women's History Month Luncheon tickets available

Location: Student Union West/Building 58W, Ballrooms A and B

Cost: $25 for general admission. A limited number of free tickets are available to students presenting their Osprey 1Card at the ticket office.

Celebrate Women's History Month with a delicious meal and an entertaining program that includes the presentation of the prestigious 2014 Susan B. Anthony Award and the Women's History Month Scholarship. 


The luncheon begins at noon, Wednesday, March 25, in the Student Union Ballrooms A and B.

Lilly Ledbetter has been invited to be the guest speaker. Ledbetter is a crusader for equal pay and women's rights and is the namesake of President Obama's first bill singed into law, the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. She also is the author of "Grace and Grit: My fight for Equal Pay and Fairness at Goodyear and Beyond."


The Susan B. Anthony Award is presented to the current year's recipient during the luncheon. The scholarship is presented to a student who has done work on campus or in the community to enhance gender equity and student volunteers will be recognized.


A limited number of free student tickets are available in the ticket office, located in English Hall , building 8. Tickets for non-students are $25 and are available online  and in English Hall.
