SG is working to renovate the student lounge adjacent to Starbucks. We will be providing a more comfortable and functional space for UNF students to grab a cup of coffee, catch up with friends, or study for class.
The Executive Branch has been working to continue our partnership with the e-hailing company Uber. This partnership provides UNF students who are first time Uber users a great deal to get up to $15 FREE on their first ride while donating $3 to our Executive Agency Lend-A-Wing Pantry.
A UNF Student Government Snapchat geo-filter has officially been released! The SG filter can be overlaid onto any photo taken on campus via Snapchat. We encourage Ospreys to use the #SWOOPLIFE with this filter!
President Grantham has appointed four students to the University Wide Committee Parking Advisory Board. This committee meets bi-weekly to discuss proposed changes to parking-related issues such as permit fees, lot categories, and enforcement. The Committee's recommendations are forwarded to the Office of the Vice-President of Administration and Finance. The goal of this project is to voice students' feedback and concerns.
The Executive Branch of Student Government, working jointly with the Student Government Senate, has written a Joint-Resolution for increased enforcement of the Smoke-Free Campus Policy, enacted by President Delaney. This initiative asks the administration to enforce existing rules and regulations regarding smoking on campus, as well as to increase the awareness of the Smoke-Free Policy through better marketing.
This semester, Student Government has been working hard to create a brand new student entrance to the UNF Arena! The new design can be seen both outside and inside of the student entrance. At SG we aim to support Osprey spirit and this project is going to show and encourage Osprey pride at the nest!
This park is a dedication to the members of our student body who have served or are currently serving the United States Military. Student Government's goal is that this stands as a reminder for us all of the sacrifice and effort that veterans have made for us.
UNF Student Government is partnering with Jacksonville University to create the Student Alliance of Jacksonville. This partnership of local student leaders will work together in order to foster idea sharing, collaboration, and cooperation in Duval County.
Students can receive up to two (2) FREE green test booklets per day. The goal of this project is to help students have access to this resource for their academic success. This has been an ongoing project of SG and we are proud to continue service you through this service. Just stop by the Rotunda in the Student Union to pick up your free booklets.
Student Government is working to provide to UNF students with access to course syllabi prior to course enrollment. The goal is to give students the ability to consider their learning needs in relation to course expectations. Long-term, this service will hopefully help to reduce course withdrawal rates and help to enrich the academic experience of UNF students
UNF students have the opportunity to provide direct feedback to Student Government about initiatives or programs that they would like to see on campus. They will also be able to learn about how they too can become actively involved within the organization. This event takes place every other Wednesday during market day hours at the Student Union.
UNF students will have access to 25 FREE prints for Spring 2017 on their opsrey1card. This will allow them to print on campus for free to ease some of the financial stress associated with academic expenses.
Club Alliance Website will be more user friendly as we work to make information more digestible to the students. In the future, Club Alliance will produce and post short videos explaining our processes so that students can watch and learn on their own time. These videos will explain how to create and maintain a club, as well as how to access Student Government funding.
Osprey Productions will be starting “Mic Mondays" next semester. Every second Monday at Starbucks, OP will have open mics and groups coming in to host this event. OP will also have Winterfest on January 13th and Campus Movie Fest will begin the week of March 2nd with the Finale on March 13th. And of course, the incredible Homecoming starting February 4th!
The Nature Trails are what make UNF so unique and we love them as much as you do! That is why this administration is working hard to ensure that the Nature Trails are renovated and kept pristinely natural for your enjoyment and environmental protection.
Student Government aims to help as many students as possible on campus. The constraint is reaching the largest number of students possible to let them know what actually SG is doing for them. The purpose of the homepage redesign is to have a website banner rotation that shows students on their first website visit the main projects we have been working on. Along with this, the homepage will have quick-links for students to get to the information they need in an easier and friendlier manner.
Student Government is happy to announce the completion of the Field House renovations. This facility is located between the UNF Arena and the Wellness Center, and it contains state of the art scoreboards and locker rooms. This will be an area for intramural sports ranging from indoor soccer to basketball, as well as be open for students to come play pick up games.
Student Government and the Jacksonville Jaguars teamed up to give UNF students discounted tickets in a student section, and the results could not have been better! All 3500 tickets were sold on campus, and the Jags extended an additional promo for UNF students through their website which has also been utilized by many of our students.
Student Government has provided funds to supply the library with graphing calculators that are available to be checked out. Any student is allowed to go rent a graphing calculator as long as they have their UNF ID with them.
Starting in the Spring of 2016 students will get 25 free prints each semester when at the library or any other printing lab! The prints will be loaded on to the Osprey One card and the card will be required in order to utilize these prints.
