Join the Parents Association

As a member of the Parents Association you can actively participate in the life of your Osprey student and interact with and lend support to other parents. You can volunteer for major activities such as planning Family Weekend, participation on Orientation panels, and/or serve as Regional Area Coordinators to host send offs and be a contact for incoming parents. The Parents Association meets on campus twice a year to plan the year’s activities.

Membership Levels

Every parent or guardian is automatically a member of the UNF Parents Association, but OSPREY, SILVER, or BLUE members receive additional benefits. You can sign up and pay your membership dues online. Or if you would prefer, download a form to join the Parents Association.

Special Projects

A portion of the budget has been used to fund scholarships, grants, and send-off events. Grants were made for the Osprey Challenge Course Low Elements, The Brooks College of Health Living Learning Community, Women’s Center Friday Lounge, and the Career Services Major Minor Fair. Two $300 Book Scholarship as a prize for a drawing at our business meetings was also approved by the membership.

Due to the reduction in Bright Futures and the higher tuition costs, we thought it would be important to help more students. Last fall we awarded four students $3,000 scholarships to help them complete their degrees. The recipients were selected from 80 applicants. For fall 2013 we renewed two scholarships and awarded four new recipients.

Become a Parents Association regional director or officer

Call (904) 620-1567 or e-mail parents@unf.edu if you are interested in running for office or if you would like to nominate someone.

Many of you asked about volunteering during Orientation. We need volunteers to assist with events and to take an active role in creating a Parent’s Council with by-laws and specific duties throughout the year. If you are interested, please e-mail parents@unf.edu for an application.
