VA  Application Process

 

After applying to UNF, here are the next steps you need to take in order to activate your benefits:

  1. Apply for Veterans Education Benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

 

        2. Submit your Request for Veteran Benefits and Statement of Responsibility to request the processing of VA Education benefits and acknowledge your VA Education benefit responsibilities. Failure to complete this form will prevent the UNF Veterans Affairs Office from completing your benefits application and certification. You must only complete this form once.

 

 NOTE:

  • To be eligible for benefits, courses must apply toward program of study (verify with your degree program advisor).
  • Beware of the consequences of changing enrollment after certification.
  • During an academic year (Fall-Summer) 60-day payment deferment request can be made within the first five days of the semester.
  • Anyone under Chapter 30 (MGIB), 1606 (MGIB Selected Reserve), or 1607 (REAP) must do monthly verification enrollment through WAVE to ensure continuation of benefits.
  • Always notify the UNF Veterans Affairs Office of any change by calling (904) 620-5555 or visiting One-Stop (building 53, room 1700).
