Safe Space Affiliates
The Safe Space Affiliates program allows UNF employees to display their
commitment to providing safer spaces on campus for lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender individuals and allies. The program also allows
students to identify faculty and staff throughout the university as
resources and allies to the LGBT community. Safe Space stickers are
found in office throughout campus to signify individuals who are willing
to provide support and be a resource to all students, faculty and
staff, inclusive of gender identity and sexual orientation.
Safe Space Training
|
Safe Space training is offered
periodically in partnership with the Center for Professional Development
and Training, and is also offered on request to UNF organizations,
departments and student groups. Participants have the opportunity to
learn terminology, become aware of resources, dialogue on strategies to
reduce homophobia and heterosexism on campus, and ask questions
throughout. Training attendees receive a Safe Space sticker and the
option to become Safe Space Affiliates at the conclusion of the training
session. Training generally lasts 3 hours.
UNF employees may view the current training schedule by logging into MyWings
and clicking on "CPDT Class Register." From there, select the course
titles "Creating Safe Spaces for LGBT Students, Faculty and Staff."
If you would like to request a training for your department or organization, contact the LGBT Resource Center at unflgbt@unf.edu or (904) 620-4720.
