QUEST Program

Prepare to take flight as a UNF Osprey by participating in the QUEST Program. Pilots are not sent into the sky without proper training and a chance to practice before they take a solo flight. We recognize that being a student on a quest to achieve academic success and make the most of their collegiate experience is very similar, therefore we recommend a like approach before starting your first semester at UNF as an Osprey.

QUEST is a year-long experience of academic and personal development for underrepresented incoming college freshmen at the University of North Florida. Students are expected to perform well academically and to balance their academic and social lives, sometimes with little to no preparatory training. The Department of Diversity Initiatives is committed to student success and we want everyone to feel prepared for their first solo flight as college students. As such, the aim of QUEST is to ease the transition from high school to college by helping students acclimate to the academic and social aspects of college life.

What is QUEST?

There are two components to the QUEST Program. Students who participate in QUEST will be awarded a $500 scholarship upon full participation and completion of the program.

June 19-23, 2017 (Monday-Friday,  9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with evening activities)

This one week intensive introductory orientation to the University will assist students in:QUEST2015 1(1)

  • Building skills essential to college success, including time management, strategic thinking, study skills and organizational best practices
  • Increasing their knowledge in the areas of English and math
  • Learning about opportunities for campus involvement
  • Connecting with other incoming and returning UNF students

QUEST and Beyond

Over the course of their first year, QUEST participants will participate in monthly meetings throughout the summer, fall and spring semesters. These group meetings will provide an opportunity for students to build upon the foundation laid during QUEST Intensive “Flight School.” Students will continue to build relationships with each other and the campus community, develop leadership and personal skills, and receive ongoing support from departmental staff in their first year of college.
