ELT Requirements & Guidelines for Students Seeking the Minor in Community Leadership

There are FOUR Primary Activity Domains
A. Qualified ON-CAMPUS Activities
A1: Annual Student Leadership Summit;
A2: Other UNF-Based Leadership Development Educational Event (not the Annual Student Leadership Summit);
A3: On-Campus WORK/EMPLOYMENT;
A4: All other On-Campus Activity Outside the Classroom;
B. Qualified OFF-CAMPUS Activities
B1: Service Projects impacting the local, national or international community;
B2: Employment off Campus (including Apprenticeships and Internships);
B3: Community Immersion Experience (CBL Definition);
B4: Community-Based Research;
B5: Community-Based Social or Economic Development Project;
B6: Political Action/Campaign;
B7: International Travel Activities ;
B8: Community-based Leadership Development Educational Event (non-UNF related);
C. Qualified LIFE EVENT (Personal/Family Related)
A Life-Event activity is generally something that occurs in the context of one’s personal or family life. Here's where the student can document the significance of such experiences to the degree to which the event impacts leadership development. For instance, leadership development can occur in the midst of a major crisis or life-changing experience, such as the death of a parent/spouse/sibling, a major illness, accident, unemployment, relocation, etc.
D. Qualified COURSE-RELATED Service Learning Leadership Activity
Certain community-based projects related to coursework, if they provided context for leadership practice and meet general ELT requirements may be acceptable for reflection on the ELT.
Be specific and descriptive
in your documentation of the activity and the learning about leadership that
ensued. Write a
minimum of 3 paragraphs.

characters, about one full page of single-spaced 12-point text in a word
In the first paragraph or
two, explain exactly what happened and the circumstances of the activity or
event you are describing. Paint a picture of the particular scene/scenario you
are describing so that that reader can “see” it in their mind.
In the subsequent paragraphs, incorporate the
following elements in your narrative:
We recommend that you compose your reflection in a
Word document, check for spelling and grammar, then “copy/paste” it into the
ELT textbox. The ELT has recently been upgraded with “Rich Text” options in the
narrative text box, allowing you to format text and pull in links and other
features that may be helpful to the crafting of your reflection. Be sure to
SAVE your word document on your computer or flash drive, just in case your
response gets “lost” for some “techy” reason.
There is a column in your bin
called “Validator Comments” ... if your ELT has been reviewed and comments or
corrective requests put forth, the word “YES” will appear in that column. If
so, be sure to click the “Sequence Number” for that item and view the comments
and respond as needed.
