Courageous Conversations: When Love Hurts

Courageous Conversations is a collaborative speaker series that examines current issues in our nation that directly impact our community. This event will look at relationship violence. The One Love Foundation will show a 40-minute film called "Escalation." UNF and community facilitators will lead small group dialogues immediately following the film. This emotionally powerful film aims at raising awareness about the warning signs of abusive relationships. One in three women and one in four men will experience relationship violence in their lifetime.


This illuminating presentation will be followed by a reception hosted by the Taylor Leadership Institute and catered by Chartwells. Reception funded by the Student Life & Services Fee.

Learn to Lead: Orientation & Advising for the Leadership Minor (2 sessions: Weds. March 1 OR Thurs. March 2)

The Orientation & Advising session is offered TWICE: Wednesday, March 1st (3-4pm) & Thursday, March 2nd (3-4pm). Choose one of these sessions to attend. Both sessions will take place in the Student Affairs Conference Room in the Student Union, Bldg. 58E, Rm. 2100 (2nd Floor).


Orientation session are open to ALL students, whether or not they have declared the Leadership Minor. The minor provides students with important credentials documenting the intentional study and practice of leadership, giving them an important "plus factor" in the job market and in applications to graduate school.


These sessions are geared towards both current and prospective students in the leadership minor program. Current students who have already declared the minor can ask questions and gain advice on how to proceed through the program. Prospective students will learn about the benefits and requirements of the inter-disciplinary Leadership Minor. The leadership minor must be declared through the advisor in your major. Students should declare the leadership minor not later than the last term of their junior year.

Leadership Speakers Bureau: Leading through Consensus Building

Register today for the Spring 2017 Leadership Speakers Bureau: “Leading through Consensus Building”.  Jeanne Miller, President & CEO of the Jacksonville Civic Council will join us on March 2nd from 6-7pm in the UNF Talon Room (Bldg. 16, 4th Floor) to discuss the challenging practice of consensus building, sharing valuable insight on what is needed to facilitate this dynamic and collaborative process.


This is a free event and will be followed by a reception catered by Chartwells. Parking will be available in Lot 9 after 5pm. 


The Leadership Speakers Bureau (LSB) is a free event for UNF students, faculty, staff and community friends and offers attendees a unique face-to-face experience with leadership-centric speakers with esteemed backgrounds, motivating stories and illuminating question-and-answer segments about leadership. The entire UNF community is invited to attend this year’s annual TAYLOR Talks, which will feature presentations from stellar graduates in the Leadership Minor program. In the same vein as the popular TEDtalks, the purpose of this event is to showcase the incredibly powerful stories and experiences of UNF students throughout their leadership development journey. Attendees will gain insight and understanding of how impactful leadership development is for students personally, academically and professionally. A reception catered by Chartwells will follow these engaging and empowering presentations. Event funded by the Student Life & Services Fee.
