Over 100 full-time, part-time and student staff are responsible for providing educational programs and services including 21 residence halls and apartment buildings. The residence halls and apartments form smaller distinct and unique areas throughout the University of North Florida campus. Approximately 3700 primarily undergraduate students live in our residence halls and apartments.

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a part-time (20 hrs/week), student staff member of the Department of Housing and Residence Life at the University of North Florida. As a student, the RA lives and works with a group of approximately 40-65 residents in an assigned area of University Housing. The primary function of the RA position is to build community in the residence halls. We are looking for students who are eager to interact with their residents, plan events for their community, and connect residents with each other. The RA position has flexible hours, but most RA responsibilities occur during the evening and weekends.

Learning Community Assistants (LCAs) are generally full-time undergraduate student staff members who reside in many of our Living Learning Communities. Their primary responsibility is the community development of the residents participating in the Living Learning Community. To do this, LCAs spend much of their time interacting with their residents and putting on programs and events around the community's focus.

The Community Assistant (CA) is a part-time (20 hrs/week), student staff member of the Department of Housing and Residence Life at The Flats at UNF. As a student, the CA lives and works with a group of approximately 60 residents in a building at The Flats. Most CA responsibilities occur during the evening and weekends.
University of North Florida’s Department of Housing and Residence Life is looking to recruit current or incoming graduate students who have prior Residence Life/Student Leadership experience to apply for our Assistant Residence Life Coordinator (ARLC) position.
The ARLC position is a 10-month, live-in, graduate position. The successful staff member will have a passion for working with a diverse student population, committed to student learning and development, possesses strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, demonstrates initiative within appropriate sphere of influence, communicates effectively, has a positive attitude, an enthusiastic, creative, self-motivated person with excellent interpersonal skills, provides superior customer service in conformance with the university’s mission and values, and an ability to manage structured autonomy.

The Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month, live-in professional staff member. The Coordinator reports to an Assistant Director, and is responsible for the administration of a housing area with approximately 500-1000 residents, up to 20 Resident Assistants and the possibility of Desk Assistants. This position is also responsible for programming, student advising, and serving as a conduct hearing administrator for the Department of Housing & Residence Life.

The Assistant Director provides vision and direction for student leadership and student learning for residents living on the University of North Florida campus. The Assistant Director is responsible for managing the 24/7 days week Welcome Desk and the staff for the residential communities. The AD also advises student groups including both our Residence Hall Association (RHA) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) organizations. The Assistant Director leads recruitment, selection, development, living-learning communities, and training initiatives for members of the communities. The Assistant Director oversees the departmental In-Service workshops for paraprofessionals. The Assistant Director is committed to enhancing the quality of life on campus and providing a safe residential community by holding students accountable for their actions and treating students with consistency, fairness, and compassion. The Assistant Director will also serve in the on-call crisis rotation for the Department of Housing and Residence Life. The Assistant Director is directly supervised by the Associate Director for Housing and Residence Life.

The Osprey Clubhouse/Fountains/FLATS Welcome Desk position is a part-time or full-time, support staff member of the Department of Housing & Residence Life at the University of North Florida. The Welcome Desk Receptionists will work up to 40 hours a week during varying shifts. Answer telephones, screen and transfer calls to appropriate staff, use office equipment such as computer. Serve as a front line representative by greeting visitors, answering questions and providing information; assist with check-in and check-out processes; direct housekeeping and maintenance concerns to the appropriate staff; communicate regularly with professional and on-call staff; communicate emergency situations to the University Police and on-call staff; assist with emergency situations as directed; check out and track facility equipment; maintain communication and equipment logs; assist with securing doors or areas of the Clubhouse; assist with the sorting and delivery of mail and packages; assist with resident key issues as necessary; monitor door alarms for the building; monitor video surveillance cameras throughout the building; be familiar with departmental policy and procedures; maintain confidentiality with student and/or staff interactions and personal information; and perform clerical and other duties as assigned.
