As a member of a UNF fraternity or sorority chapter, you have many opportunities to get involved. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life offers several programs for chapter members to increase their leadership ability and develop skills that will benefit you throughout your life.

 

Emerging Leaders Program - Spring Semester

Emerging Leaders is a leadership development program designed for newly initiated members of your chapter (initiated in the last year) who show leadership potential and whom the chapter thinks might become future officers in the chapter or the council. Participants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.  Over the course of the program, participants will work with other rising leaders and engage in experiential learning on key topics related to leadership, intentionally designed and structured to provide a solid foundation for leadership in a chapter or a council. 

 

Classes will take place on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Student Union.  Class dates are January 28, February 14, February 28, and March 7. There are two MANDATORY out-of-class assignments on Saturday, February 1 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and Tuesday, April 2.  Participants must pay a $25 fee upfront.  Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be reimbursed.  Successful completion means attending all classes and out-of-class experiences and completing an evaluation at the conclusion of the program.

 

Participant applications are due Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 12:00 p.m.  Participants will be notified on Friday, January 24. Space is limited to 15 participants.

Greek Leadership Series - Fall Semester 

Greek Leadership Series is a weekly seminar series focused on developing rising leaders in the chapter. It will focus on specific aspects of leadership, identified as being helpful to a member seeking a high-level executive position in a chapter or a council.

 

Greek Awards Committee  

The Greek Awards Committee members will be responsible for coordinating and planning all aspects of the Greek Awards. They will be appointed by the Greek Alliance for the spring semester. Responsibilities include:
  • Processing applications for Greek Awards: copying, binding, collating
  • Organizing the interview process/times
  • Choosing event themes and trophy hardware
  • Setting up event logistics - reserve space, decorate, create PowerPoint presentation for event, coordinate speakers and presenters
  • Designing promotional materials for the event and invite key campus administrators
  • Following up with the OFSL to discuss and evaluate the Greek Awards process
Panhellenic Recruitment Counselor
Recruitment Counselors are experienced fraternity women who provide support, information, and guidance to women participating in formal Panhellenic recruitment events. They assist in recruiting potential new members to sign up for recruitment and in all recruitment events. Recruitment Counselors serve as objective liaisons between the College Panhellenic and the potential new members to clarify and explain how recruitment functions, assist with event schedules, and answer any questions potential new members may have about the recruitment process.
