Chapter Facts

Since its founding on August 27, 1993 the Sigma Upsilon Chapter has been a leading force on UNF’s campus and the Jacksonville community. Every year the Chapter hosts various community service programs like “A Voteless People is A Hopeless People”, “Go To High School, Go To College”, and “Project Alpha” which is a National program designed to teach young teens responsibilities and to raise the awareness of STD’s and unwanted pregnancies. In addition the Sigma Upsilon Chapter is currently involved in an initiative called Mentor Jax, where we go out and mentor to the youth that are less fortunate in the Jacksonville community, trusting that our built relationships and interactions will give them hope to continue to further their education, and steer them away from any negativity. Today, the Sigma Upsilon Chapter continues to march onward and upward towards the light and maintains the great tradition and legacy of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

The seven charter members (Pearls) of the Sigma Upsilon Chapter are Bros. Kenneth Patrick Abrams, Michael Rene Arbery, Terrence Lamont Boatman, Willie Paul Daniels, Frank Bernard Goodin Jr., Patrick Alan Lyons, and Barry Gerard Wynns.
