The CCAMPIS Grant has benefitted many of our students and here is what some of them had to say:
" I am so GRATEFUL for the night program and the CCAMPIS Scholarship! The night program allows me to pursue my goals and have my children in a safe, affordable environment on campus with me. As a single mother, I've found it to be challenging to work full time and go to school. The night program and the CCAMPIS Scholarship allowed me to overcome that challenge. For the first time ever in my attendance at UNF (I'm a senior), I was able to successfully attend school full time in the evening thanks to the night program! Ms. Erica and Ms. Patty were wonderful and they are terribly missed by my boys. They are so excited for the fall semester. Thank you for helping me to accomplish my educationals goals. "I know a lot of people can relate when I say that as a mom, student and employee, it can be very difficult to focus on your studies if you have concerns over your child's daycare situation or the cost of it. When I got my son into the program at the CDRC, I knew I was getting him into one of the best centers for daycare and VPK in Duval County . I was informed that I would be allowed into the program without cost to me. I was so excited, this had a true impact. My son was now in a great school, without a financial burden. This was a tremendous help in allowing me to focus more on school. The staff and the teachers at the CDRC have been so wonderful and supportive to me and my son. They have become friends that are always on their toes, looking out for the best interests of my son and me. I will truly miss them when it is our time to go." --- Shontel Bodell
“As a single mother, a college education was as equally important as it was hard to achieve. Without the CCAMPIS Grant, I would not of had the flexibility or the financial means to obtain my degree.By decreasing the cost of child care, I was able to work less hours and study more. This allowed me to raise my GPA from a 2.6 to a 3.07. Receiving the CCAMPIS Grant not only helped to secure my future through education but also helped me to set an outstanding educational example for my son.” ---Alicia Mann
“I wanted to return to college soon after having my daughter in 2001 but was faced with the challenges of low income and the expense of childcare. I researched the programs that the CDRC provided for students attending UNF and found many hailed the school that “sets the standards and has an impeccable reputation”... I began UNF in the Fall of 2003 with much ambition and expectations. Still faced with the challenges of income and expenses, the center referred me to the CCAMPIS Grant. As soon as I began receiving the grant, my stress levels decreased and I was able to focus more on my studies and not the worries of money. Today, I am proud to say that I am a college graduate, graduating Cum Laude and pursuing a fulfilling career in graphic design. I know that it would have been exceedingly difficult to accomplish this goal without the grant….” -----Melissa Mendoza
"The CCAMPIS Scholarship Award has given me an opportunity like no other. When I entered my senior year at UNF, my son had turned five years old. I knew that he would start preschool and I would have to pay for before and after school care. This was a financial burden that I was not sure how to manage. My major required me to take six courses a semester and a full time internship prior to graduation. The scholarship covered my child's before and after school care giving me the opportunity to focus on my studies fulltime. I have witnessed fist hand, the excellent care that CDRC provides, and that gave me peace of mind when having to complete all the requirements of my degree. Because of the CCAMPIS Scholarship, I was able to graduate Summa Cum Laude, with highest honors, with a bachelor in physical education. I know that if I wasn't awarded with the scholarship, I wouldn't have graduated with highest honors, and within the desried time frame. I am very grateful for the opportunity that CCAMPIS Scholarship has given me and hope that they are able to continue to give other students/parents the opportunity they gave me." -- Daphne Gomez
