Sustainability at UNF
In following with the Environmental Center's mission objective to "...conduct and support...projects involving sustainability..." we
have provided resources for the campus community to become more
involved in our efforts to promote sustainability within the community.
As part of this mission, the Environmental Center is a member of the
Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). They provide support by helping UNF to reach our sustainability goals
and providing a network of institutions to work
together with and learn from each other. The UNF community can gain
access to AASHE's extensive collection of resources and to professional
development opportunities by clicking here.
The Environmental Center was also instrumental in encouraging UNF to
become the 644th signatory of the American Colleges & Universities
Presidential Climate Commitment (ACUPCC).
This commitment shows UNF's ability to exert leadership in addressing
climate change. It will also help UNF to stabilize and reduce our
long-term energy costs, attract excellent students and faculty,
attract new sources of funding, and increase the support of alumni and
local communities. As part of this commitment, UNF is mandated to
implement a climate action plan. The first step towards this action is
to create a Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory, which the Environmental Center conducted and released October 25, 2010.
