Dr. Roberson has been at UNF for 12 years. During that time, he has been on the faculty of the Department of Exceptional Student and Deaf Education, served as the Graduate Program Director for the Deaf Education program, and was the Department Chairperson for four years. Dean Roberson earned a Ph.D. in Deaf Education from Gallaudet University, holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Deaf Education from Flagler College. He holds national certification as a sign language interpreter (SC:L, CI, CT) from the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). He is involved with several national organizations, leads the development of the new ASL/English Interpreting program at UNF that has both an undergraduate and graduate program in interpreting, and has published several articles in the area of teacher effectiveness and interpreter preparation.

Patrice Kapcio, a Pennsylvania native, earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Westminster College. Prior to joining The Graduate School in 2010, Patrice worked for 2 years in the ITS department at UNF. She is a volunteer puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) and is raising her second puppy, Cisco IV, to be an assistance dog.

Ashley, a West Palm Beach native, joined The Graduate School in November 2011. She is an alumni of UNF earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree. Later, she plans to attend medical school to become a pediatrician.

Ada Urbizu is from Orlando, Florida. Prior to joining The Graduate School in January 2012, she took a 16 year hiatus from the business sector to raise her three children as a stay-at-home mom. She volunteers at Christ the King Catholic School and is looking forward to growing with the UNF family.

Nichole Bishop
Graduate Assistant
Nichole received both her Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology and Masters of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of North Florida. She is currently pursuing a second master’s degree (Biology) and aspires to teach at the college level. Nichole loves the outdoors and enjoys surfing, hiking, fishing, and kayaking.
