|Angelina Thomas returned to Jacksonville after earning her bachelor’s degree. Once she made the decision to continue her education, she researched UNF’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and was highly impressed. She knew she wanted to be a part of a diversified program and UNF was a great fit for her. “The faculty has stellar curriculum vitas,” Thomas says, “and are very diverse in the experience each individual brings.”
Even though Angelina found it difficult to “efficiently manage” her time in the beginning, she has since found a balance. While training at her internship, working, and attending class, Thomas has found the time to become actively involved with campus life. She has a leadership role in the Graduate Student Organization and is a member of Chi Sigma Iota and the Committee for Diversity and Inclusion.
Thomas does have advice for potential graduate students, “take a holistic look at what you would like to get out of graduate school and just try to find the right fit.”
On a Personal Note:
What do you do when you need a break from studying?
When I need a break, one of my favorite things to do is travel. I’ll go anywhere new.
Where’s the best place on campus to unwind?
One of the best places to unwind on campus is the garden area behind Bldg. 39A. It is so pretty and has nice benches to sit on and take a moment for yourself.
Describe one of your favorite locations off campus?
I love going out to Micklers Landing. Growing up in the area, it’s the beach my family and I would always go to when I was little, so it’s a nice spot to hang out at and relax.
