Admission Requirements

University requirements:

 

A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or its equivalent from a foreign institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all work attempted in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate study.

 

 

Additional program requirements:

(Advanced Teaching and Learning, Athletic Administration, Educational Technology, and Higher Education Administration concentrations)

1. Official transcripts from all attended institutions
2. Written statement identifying: 
           • professional and career goals 
           • aspiration
3. Current resume
4. Three letters of recommendation (using UNF's online reference system)

one from a school administrator
5. Copy of teaching certificate or statement of eligibility: At least one (1) year of successful full-time teaching experience in a public or private school, three (3) years preferred.

Students should be aware that admission into any graduate program is granted on a competitive basis. Students meeting minimum requirements may be denied admission based on such factors as program capacity or academic discretion. Likewise, students may be considered for admission as an exception if stated admissions criteria are not met.

THE PROGRAM
Program Overview

Guided by the belief that the most important purposes of schooling are teaching and learning, the programs in educational leadership are designed to develop effective educational leaders. Students are guided in their personal development of a vision of excellence in schooling. Research-based studies of educational policy, instructional leadership, management skills, and effective schools as well as studies of successful innovations in practice characterize the programs. The college offers an educational leadership program leading to a master of education degree (M.Ed.), and a non-degree program leading to Florida certification in educational leadership is also available.

Special Notes about the Program

An applicant who does not meet the stated criteria for admission to the Educational Leadership Program may request review of his/her application by submitting a letter detailing the reasons that an exception to the admission policy should be granted. This letter should be submitted to the Educational Leadership Program Director prior to the closing date for receipt of applications. The letter will become part of the application and be reviewed during the student selection process.

 

Certificate programs offered with Educational Leadership are not eligible for financial aid except for students pursuing their initial teacher certification. Please visit the Financial Aid website for more information regarding eligibility.
