| Admission Requirements | University requirements: - A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or its equivalent from a foreign institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all work attempted in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate study.
Additional program requirements: - Official transcripts from all attended institutions
- Competitive GRE scores taken within the last five years
- Three letters of recommendation
- by faculty members or professional references familiar with your academic or research potential
- Letter of intent stating:
- educational goals
- professional goals
- indication of provisional acceptance into an eligible faculty mentor's lab
- indication to be considered or not considered for a departmental GTA position
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) minimum requirement for applicants from non-English speaking countries is 570 on the paper-based exam. Students should be aware that admission into any graduate program is granted on a competitive basis. Students meeting minimum requirements may be denied admission based on such factors as program capacity or academic discretion. Likewise, students may be considered for admission as an exception if stated admissions criteria are not met. |
| THE PROGRAM |
| Program Overview | The Master of Science in Biology program is a thesis-based degree centered on original student research. The biological sciences are progressing rapidly; and by interacting with researchers in the classroom, field and laboratory, graduate students will better understand the principal values of science and the ethical requirements of scientific pursuits. |
