| Admission Requirements | University requirements: - A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or its equivalent from a foreign institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all work attempted in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate study.
Additional program requirements: - Official transcripts from all attended institutions
- Competitive GRE scores taken within the last five years
- Three letters of recommendation
- by faculty members or professional references familiar with your academic or research potential
- Letter of intent stating:
- educational goals
- professional goals
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) minimum requirement for applicants from non-English speaking countries is 570 on the paper-based exam. Students should be aware that admission into any graduate program is granted on a competitive basis. Students meeting minimum requirements may be denied admission based on such factors as program capacity or academic discretion. Likewise, students may be considered for admission as an exception if stated admissions criteria are not met. |
| THE PROGRAM |
| Program Overview | The Master of Arts in Biology program is designed primarily to provide K-12 science teachers with advanced coursework in biology. |
| Special Notes about the Program | The Department of Biology is home to one of UNF's Flagship Programs: the Coastal Biology program. Applicant must hold the B.A., B.S. Biology, Science Education or equivalent degree from a nationally (or internationally) accredited university or institution (contact the Graduate School with questions). |

| Community Connections | The department prepares science teachers for public and private schools through the MA degree and through special summer courses designed for teachers. The department also has an internship program that contributes directly to the welfare of our coastal environment. |
