Tuition waivers generally are offered in conjunction with assistantships. Tuition waivers cover some portion of the tuition costs the student bears; in many cases, master's-degree-pursuing graduate assistants may expect to have approximately half of their tuition waived. Students are responsible for the outstanding balance not covered by the waiver. Graduate students are encouraged to contact their program director for more information and to inquire about the possibility of acquiring such a waiver. Note that waivers are never offered in exchange for services; rather, they are offered to lend support to students who, by virtue of being graduate assistants, are pursuing full-time study in their disciplines.
