John Kantner

Dr. John Kantner joined the University of North Florida in 2013 as the Assistant Vice President for Research, and was appointed Associate Vice President for Research & Dean of the Graduate School in 2014. Previously, he was Vice President for Academic & Institutional Advancement at the School for Advanced Research, an independent research center for the social sciences and humanities. From 1999 to 2006, Dr. Kantner was an associate professor in the Department of Anthropology & Geography at Georgia State University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara  in 1999, where he studied archaeology, anthropology, geography, geochemistry, and evolutionary theory. Dr. Kantner's research focuses on the archaeology of ancient societies, with a particular interest in the processes through which complex social and political institutions emerged throughout  human  history.

Amanda Pascale

Dr. Amanda Pascale came to UNF in August of 2011. Prior to joining the Graduate School in 2014, she served as Associate Director in the Office of Admissions. She also currently adjunct teaches Master's level students in the Higher Education program for the College of Education and Human Services. Dr. Pascale earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration as well as a Master's of Science in College Student Personnel and Student Affairs from the University of Tennessee. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. She is a member of multiple national organizations and has authored several published research articles and book chapters relating to student success, recruitment, and retention in higher education.

Ada Urbizu is from Orlando, Fla. Prior to joining The Graduate School in January 2012, she took a 16 year hiatus from the business sector to raise her three children as a stay-at-home mom. She volunteers at Christ the King Catholic School and is looking forward to growing with the UNF family.  



 Paige Lilley

Paige is from Illinois and graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor's of Science. She relocated to Jacksonville in 2008 where she immediately joined UNF. Prior to joining the Graduate School in 2005, she worked in the Student Financial Services office and then Enrollment Services processing. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and pets, entering her car in car shows, and doing anything that is creative and artistic.

Peter first joined the University of North Florida in February 2009 after serving as an officer in the U.S. Army for over 30 years, including 23 years of overseas duty. Prior to joining the Graduate School, he worked in Enrollment Services both as an admissions coordinator and a representative in the University's Welcome Center. He posses both an undergraduate and master's degree and has extensive teaching experience in higher education, having taught German language courses in the past at the United States Military Academy, Florida State College in Jacksonville and UNF, as well as graduate level security topics at the prestigious George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch, Germany. Peter is also an avid soccer fan. During his younger days, while stationed in Europe, he played semi-professionally for nearly a decade and continues to support Bayern Munich, "the best club team in Europe". 
 Rachel Rachel Carpenter
Graduate Assistant

Rachel has recently moved to Jacksonville from Colorado to pursue her Master of Science in General Psychology at UNF! She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs where her family is from. Rachel hopes to become a licensed neuropsychologist with an emphasis on psychopathologies. Her current research is deadling with functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and depression valence. In her spare time, she loves being outside, enjoys reading and has a newfound love of the beach!
