This page describes options for creating narrated lectures. Please review the Instructional Design Team’s Best Practices for Narrated Lectures page for recommendations on how to create high quality narrated presentations.
To create narrated presentations you will need a computer with a microphone. If you would like to include video of yourself as well as audio you will need a computer with a webcam.
Laptop computers (with microphones and webcams), microphone headsets, and webcams are available for checkout from CIRT.

How to add to a Canvas Course

Published to Mix and added to a course with the Mix LTI
Office Mix is an add-on to Microsoft PowerPoint that adds functionality for creating narrated lectures with audio, video, screen capture, and quizzes. Office Mixes are published to the Office Mix website and can be added to a Canvas course using the LTI

Save the lecture video and add it to Canvas
The OLL serves as a space for faculty to create online instructional materials and experiment with the latest tools and technologies. The room’s capture system can record presenter audio, video, content, and annotations. The recorded presentations are saved to a personal thumb drive and are ready to be posted to a Canvas Course.
Export the narrated presentation as a video and add it to Canvas
Keynote is a software developed by Apple for creating presentations that has a narration feature. A narrated Keynote presentation can be exported as a QuickTime movie and added to Canvas using Arc.
