Katharine is new to CIRT as of September 2013. She brings over 30 years of experiences at UNF to her new role as the Assistant Director for DL Student Services. She earned her MBA at UNF in 1982 and quickly discovered technology was her passion. In ITS for 10 years, she worked on the network and user services teams before joining the faculty in the School of Computing. For the past 14+ years, Katharine has been the Lead Advisor in the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction, and a Senior Instructor in the School of Computing.
Jose Philip has been working in higher education distance learning programs for more than 9 years. Prior to coming to UNF, Jose worked in the University of North Texas Health Science center in Fort Worth. At UNT, he supported for the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) which provides services and training to law enforcement personnel. Jose also has extensive experience in Telepresence Management systems.
Julie began her education at UNF and later graduated from Florida International University with a B.A. in English and Women's Studies. In 2009, she earned an M.S. in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University. Julie has a variety of professional experience in education, including working as a university librarian, high school English teacher, curriculum writer, and instructional designer. An avid reader, she particularly enjoys reading horror, historical fiction, and young adult novels in addition to pursuing whatever hobby piques her interest at any given moment.
Syleste graduated from UNF with a BS in Journalism in 2004 and with an M.Ed with a specialization in Instructional Technology in 2007. She worked with CIRT as an instructional design assistant for a year after completing her Masters degree, then taught middle school in the Duval County Public School system before returning to CIRT in 2012. Syleste's work interests include Blackboard support and designing online courses. In her free time she loves working on writing her novel, blogging, reading, and spending time with those closest to her.
LaTasha came to UNF in 2014 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she worked as an Instructional Design Specialist and Adjunct Faculty with Brown Mackie College in the Graphic Design Program. LaTasha holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication & Information Sciences specializing in Broadcast Management and a Master of Science in Interactive Technology both from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa: ROLL TIDE! She is an avid reader, multimedia guru, weekend family chef, a trained vocalist/songwriter and is preparing for a doctoral program in Education. She brings to UNF over a decade of multimedia and technology knowledge in the fields of healthcare, media, education and corporate institutions. What she loves most is her Faith, Family and Educating others, in that order.
Jen graduated from UNF with a BA in Psychology in 2003. Previously, Jen worked for the Office of the Provost, where she coordinated the migration of the Academic Affairs websites into the CMS utility and served as the commencement/event coordinator. She started at UNF in 1998 at the Help Desk, where she worked at the technical and manager levels. In her free time, she enjoys photography, traveling, music and spending time with family.
Taylor graduated with his Bachelors in Business Administration in Spring 2014 from the University of North Florida. Taylor will be continuing his education at UNF, perusing a Master in Business Administration. Taylor started at CIRT in Fall of 2012 as a Distance Learning Assistant and is staying with CIRT as our Lead Distance Learning Assistant. Taylor enjoys spending time with his friends and family, cooking out, and hanging out at the beach.
Samantha Samantha Maletta is a Computing and Information Science major. She moved to Jacksonville from Melbourne in the summer of 2012 and loves being at UNF. She enjoys reading, spending time with her family, creating projects in Photoshop and Flash, and running with her dog.
Erin graduated from State University of New York (SUNY) New Paltz in 2009 with a degree in Marketing. She moved to Jacksonville from Orange County, New York in Spring 2011. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at UNF. In her spare time, Erin enjoys reading, volunteering, listening to live music, and having a good laugh with family and friends.
