          Google Scholar Linking and Exporting

Link to full text from Google Scholar

  • Google Scholar lets you set library preferences so you will see Full Text @ UNF when a link to full text is available.
  • Click the settings button at the top right - the jagged round icon.
  • Select "Library links" (on the left) and find University of North Florida.
  • If you are logged into the library (or are on campus) the link will take you straight to the full text.
  • If you are off campus and not logged in to the library, the link will take you to the LinkSource menu where you will be prompted to log in when you attempt to reach the full text.
  • This link will route you through the library's login proxy and take you to Google Scholar.

Export to RefWorks from Google Scholar

  • Click the settings button at the top right - the jagged round icon.
  • Select the "Search results" preference settings.
  • Select RefWorks export option.
  • You must be logged into the library to be able to export to RefWorks.
  • This link will route you through the library's login proxy and take you to Google Scholar.
  • Log in with your N# and UNF password.
  • You will then be able to export items to RefWorks with no problems.

Link to Full Text from Scirus

  • Scirus links to full text articles in ScienceDirect and other databases. UNF will not have all of them.
  • For Scirus, you'll need to log in to the library before you do a search.  You can login here and go straight to Scirus.

Why Library Databases are More Complete

  • Things you can do with library databases that you can't do with Internet Search Engines -- even academic ones.
  • Find full text instantly, most back to the early 1990s, some as far back as the beginning of the journal - - all free!
  • Limit by journal type -- academic/scholarly, peer-reviewed, trade journals, etc.
  • Limit by document type -- book review, article, research, etc.
  • Limit by date - as far back as the 1800s in some databases.
  • Search in subject databases to limit to specific types of journals, such as psychology journals, education journals, or biology journals.
  • Search very specifically using descriptors and subject headings not available in Google Scholar.
  • And lots more!
