Afro-American Life Insurance Company Collection. (1951-1965)
The Afro-American Life Insurance Company was an historic Jacksonville, Fla., business founded in 1901. The Collection consists of printed materials providing an overview of the Company's business history in the early to mid-twentieth century. Materials include two issues of the in-house publication, "Pilot" (December 3, 1962 [available online]; February 17 - 24, 1964 [available online]), and the fiftieth anniversary booklet, "Golden anniversary, 1901-1951..." [available online] (56 p.). A supplement (24 p.) to the newspaper, "Pittsburgh Courier," [available online] features the Company's new building in 1956 and shows numerous images of company employees and administrators.

Black Floridians and the Civil War: Pension Records of the 21st, 33rd, and 34th United States Colored Infantry Regiments.
The core of the collection are copies of primary documents from the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) regarding applications for Union army veteran's pensions submitted from veterans of the United States Colored Infantry regiments, their widows, and other relatives. The bulk of the materials are concentrated in the late nineteenth and the early twentieth centuries. The majority of the holdings are copies of legal forms, affidavits, and transcriptions, which were collected and edited by University of North Florida (UNF) history students as supporting materials for the website: Florida History Online. Florida History Online is a digital archive of textual and visual documents of Florida history produced by UNF students and faculty under the direction of Professor Emeritus of History Dr. Daniel L. Schafer.

The Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park is located on U.S. 90, 15 miles east of Lake City and 50 miles west of Jacksonville. An annual reenactment of the Battle is held every February at the State Park.

The plantation is located on Fort George Island and includes the plantation house, a kitchen house, a barn, and the ruins of 25 of the original slave cabins. The plantation was named for one of several plantation owners, Zephaniah Kingsley, who operated the property from 1813-1839.
