Public Outreach & Community Partnerships
Faculty members utilize their disciplinary expertise to produce “applied scholarship” that directly addresses an array of regional concerns. A broad range of research centers and institutes are directly linked to community partners. In these and other ways programs within and beyond traditional academic settings actively promote the relevance of its efforts to the citizens it is proud to serve.
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is designed for adults over the age of 50 who wish to explore and learn about a wide array of topics. Community members can enroll in courses, lunch sessions, trips, collaborations, and networking opportunities.
HandsOn Jacksonville (City Volunteer Opportunities)
Connecting community members to volunteer opportunities throughout Jacksonville and the Northeast Florida region.
Public Opinion Research Lab
Public Opinion Research Lab offers research services for government agencies, non-profits, the private sector and academic researchers. PORL services include consulting, questionnaire design, coding, data collection (Internet, mail, telephone [CATI], field); focus groups, and data analysis. The PORL serves its clients throughout the research process, from survey design consultation and questionnaire development through data collection and detailed reporting of survey data.
Small Business Development Center
Small Business Development Center assists potential and existing business owners by providing the management advice, training and information they need to start, grow, and profit. With funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration and partners ranging from institutions of higher learning to state agencies to municipalities, to private organizations, SBDCs are able to offer this management assistance to business owners at little or no cost.
Center for Community Initiatives
The Northeast Florida Center for Community Initiatives (CCI) is dedicated to providing high quality research and evaluation support to community, local, state and federal programs affecting community life in Northeast Florida.
Volunteers in Medicine
The Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville Clinic is a volunteer run medical clinic that provides primary medical services to the working uninsured of Greater Jacksonville. Operations are funded through private and corporate donations, grants, and on-going fundraising.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Center for Ethics, Public Policy, and the Professions
The Center is dedicated to facilitating the application of moral reasoning to questions of ethics and values as faced by policymakers, researchers, and professional practitioners in the areas of health care, law, business, engineering, education, government, and public life generally. The Center contributes to regional, national, and international discussion of these matters through research, education, community outreach, and professional ethics consultations. The Center offers training and consultation for local and regional professionals and public officials, providing tools with which to make informed ethical choices and decisions.
Global Health and Medical Diplomacy
The Center for Global Health and Medical Diplomacy (the Center) at the University of North Florida was founded in February 2007, with the mission of promoting global understanding and collaborative action for improving health and medical care. Center objectives include:
- Promoting excellence and balance in the caring, ethics and science of health and medicine
- Promoting the human, economic and diplomatic value of health and medical care
- Promoting optimal health and medical education
- Supporting leadership development in the health and medical professions
- Integrating broad local, state, national and global participation in advisory committees, forums, publications, research, education and demonstration activities
