Designing a Thorough and Inclusive Selection Process for Strategic Planning, Assessment, and E-Portfolio Software
This session was held on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Roundtable Focus
The University of North Florida embarked on a process to select commercial software to replace homegrown systems for assessment and strategic planning, and to add capability for student e-portfolios. In this roundtable, we share our design of a thorough and inclusive software selection process and related documents. Lessons learned include
- allowing plenty of time;
- opting for thoroughness over speed;
- communicating early and often with stakeholders;
- building enthusiasm for the process from the start; and
- insisting on seeing how candidate products will work with your data and in your context.
This session is recommended for administrators, staff, and faculty involved in the selection of software for management of strategic planning, assessment, and/or e-portfolios.
