Organization Development is a planned, researched approach that a college, unit or department can undergo to maximize their organizational effectiveness. Organizational Development at UNF is concerned with the effectiveness of these individual organizational units and with the ways that these units work together to support UNF's mission and goals. The unit manager and members attend sessions that focus on people, relationships, policies, procedures, processes, culture, and organizational structure. CPDT partners with outsource consultants to provide strategies necessary to achieve organizational goals, including: 

• diagnosing needs and problems
• defining the group's goals and objectives
• making plans to achieve articulated goals
• developing and implementing group problem-solving and decision-making strategies

 Before a consultant is assigned to your department, a member of CPDT and the unit manager discuss the department's needs, goals and consulting budget. A consultant will then be assigned to do action research in your organization to better assess where you are now and what organization learning strategies may be helpful to achieve your goals. Examples of Organizational Development Training interventions include:

• Strategic Planning to clarify mission, strategy and goals.
• Process Transformation to better serve internal and external customers, reduce bureaucracy, or eliminate duplication of effort.
• Leadership Initiatives to implement or respond to new technology or business processes, manage growth, or adjust to new leadership.
• Team Effectiveness Strategies to initiate new team's energies or realign existing teams.
• Executive Coaching to improve leadership effectiveness.

To reserve a computer lab for UNF faculty/staff training purposes:

1. Check lab availability on the CPDT room allocation calendar to confirm requested date and time are available.
2. Fill out the lab reservation form at least 3 business days before a training session. If you have any questions, please contact us.
3. Once your reservation has been confirmed, you will need to make arrangements to pick up the lab key from CPDT and return the key immediately after the training session is complete.
4. CPDT requests that you log off all computers, shut down the projector and lock the door at the completion of the training session. Only drinks in tightly covered containers are allowed in computer labs. There is no food allowed.
   
   Note: For departments requesting a training lab only, the department assumes all design, logistics, promotion, registration, consulting/training, and evaluation responsibilities required for the successful completion of the training session. 

1. Complete the lab reservation form at least two (2) weeks prior to the date of the training session.

For new training courses:

1. Read and complete the Course Development Guidelines. 
2. Schedule a meeting with CPDT representative at least ten (10) weeks prior to the date of the training session.

CPDT helps managers ensure that subject matter experts (SME's) are successful in their training role by working collaboratively with trainers. It is the manager's responsibility to contact CPDT when hiring a functional staff member that will be assigned training duties or when contracting with a third party for training. CPDT recommends relevant training for the SME, provides training resources, and works with the SME to:

1. design and develop learning program
2. manage logistics - including labs, registration and promotion
3. evaluate learning programs
4. make recommendations for continuous improvement
