Citations

When are citations written?

Regulations are enforced 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. A citation may be written at any time.
How do I appeal a citation?

Appeals can be submitted online through the parking website or through your myWings account. Another option is to submit an appeal form to Parking & Transportation Services, Building 52, within 14 calendar days from the date the citation was issued.
How long do I have to pay?

Citations must be paid within 14 calendar days from the date the citation is issued.
What will happen if I do not pay my citation?

If you do not pay your citation within 14 calendar days, you will be charged a $10 late fee in addition to the citation fee. A hold will be placed on your registration, grades, and transcripts. If you have three or more overdue citations or receive eight tickets in a calendar year, you will go on our "Boot" list.
How can you get a boot on your vehicle?

Three or more late and unpaid citations will result in receiving a boot. If you have received 8 or more citations in a period of 365 days or display a stolen, altered or lost permit will be applied to the vehicle. Other violations consist of parking in a service area, fire lane, Lot 7, a Reserved space, a disability space or if you obstruct traffic and create a safety hazard.
What happens if my car is booted?

When your car is booted, it will be immobilized on campus until all citations are paid. An additional $50 boot fee will be added to your total fee. After 20 calendar days, if both the citation and the boot fee isn't paid, the vehicle may be towed off campus. You will be responsible for the tow fees as well.
If I recieve a parking citation, can I let my parents, spouse, or friends communicate on my behalf with Parking & Transportation Services and University Officials?

Please be advised that pursuant to confidentiality laws, Parking & Transportation Services and other University officials can only communicate with the student who has been issued the citation.

Decals/Permits

Do I really need a decal/permit if I park in the outer lots, like Lot 14, 18 or 53?

Every vehicle parked on campus must display a valid decal or permit, no matter where you park. The only exception is a visitor attending an event at the University Center.
What if my temporary permit expires before I receive my decal sticker in the mail?

Visit Parking & Transportation Services in Building 52. We will provide you with another temporary permit.

If you have not received your decal after 21 days from the online order, please visit us and we will assist you in obtaining one.
Is it ok if I tape my decal to my car? I don't want to stick the decal on my new car.

No. Your decal is considered valid only if it is permanently affixed with its own adhesive backing. The decal must be affixed to the exterior glass of the vehicle; it is recommended to adhere the sticker on the exterior of the driver's side rear window or on the driver's side rear bumper. If your decal isn't permanently affixed, you will be ticketed for Improper Display of Decal.
How do I remove a prior UNF affixed permit decal?

To remove the permit first apply heat to it with hot water, then use a plastic scraper or an edge of a plastic card to lift one of the permit corners. Slowly pull off the remaining decal. If requesting for a replacement, return the decal even if it is in pieces to Parking & Transportation Services, Bldg. 52. In order to avoid possible vehicle damage please refrain from using a razor blade. If you have an issue removing the permit, please visit us at Bldg. 52.
Can I park in reserved areas?

Only if you have the special parking decal/permit that is available to faculty and staff only.
Do I need a parking permit on the weekends?

On most weekends, a permit is not required. The exception is during special events when permits are being sold.
How much is a daily permit?

$3 per day; good for that calendar day only.
What if I give or sell my decal/permit to a friend?

The permit will still be registered to you, and any unpaid tickets will be your responsibility.
What if I drive a different car?

For Faculty and Staff: a hanging permit is transferable and can be displayed in any vehicle you drive to campus. For students: Do not remove the affixed decal, instead visit Parking Services, Building 52, to obtain a temporary free permit for the day as long as the decal is registered in your name.
What if I buy a new car?

For Faculty and Staff: a hanging permit is transferable. For students: an affixed decal must be removed from the vehicle and returned to Parking Services. Provide a bill of sale document and for $10 you will be issued a replacement decal.
What about lost or stolen decals/permits?

You will need to file a report with the Police Department and Parking Services so we can track the decal/permit. Provide a copy of the police report to Parking Services and a $10 replacement decal/permit will be issued.

Parking

Can I park in the dirt or grass?

No, only in areas that are marked for parking.
What if there is no place to park?

There are more than 9,000 legal parking spaces on campus with the addition of Lots 18 and 53. Unfortunately, not all of them could be located close to campus buildings; but now there is a convenient Shuttle. If you arrive early, you can usually locate a space close to your destination. Parking lots closest to the buildings usually fill up by 10 a.m. earlier Monday through Thursday. If you arrive later, you may get a space if someone is leaving.
