Description:

Approximately 400 species of violets are found around the world, mostly in cooler climates. The Australian violet is native to eastern Australia into Malaysia. It is a small evergreen creeper that will form mats in a moist, shady site. Its white and purple flowers are produced over a long period during the growing season.

Several native violet species make attractive plants in the garden, too.
