The Thirteen Annual International Business Research Conference

You are invited to participate in the 13th annual IB conference on Research, Teaching and Practice. UNFIB-13 will be held newly built Student Union at the University of North Florida.

UNFIB - 13 provides an opportunity for close interaction among researchers and practitioners. Research, research-in-progress papers as well as proposals for panel discussions, workshops and tutorials from all areas business are invited for submission. All papers will be included in the conference proceedings. In addition, selected papers will be published in a special issue of AIMS International Journal of Management  and be eligible for a fast-tracked review towards publication in the International Journal of Applied Behavioral Economics.

 Important Dates

The conference is open on the morning of February 8^th and will end with lunch on February 9^th. A social event, including dinner, will be held on February 8^th. The conference team will also arrange for tourism opportunities during the evenings of February 9^th and 10^th, for willing participants.

1. Great Keynote Speakers: Giselle Weybrecht, Author of The Sustainable MBA is the keynote (Tentative).
2. Business Routable: The conference will include a business roundtable discussion on conference theme. Prominent business leaders are expected to participate and interact with participants.
3. Interaction opportunity: The conference provides an opportunity for individual interactions and building relationships with colleagues. In the past, it has provided for excellent opportunities to discuss research ideas as well as for co-authorships.
4. Great location: Jacksonville, FL is a great location. Not only does is the conference location 10 minutes from the Atlantic ocean – Jacksonville also provides easy access to three prominent tourist destinations – Amelia Island, St. Augustine and Orlando. Staying with our conference theme UNF was ranked in the top 100 “Coolest Schools” by Sierra magazine, the award-winning magazine of the Sierra Club, America’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization, for its “green” endeavors on campus. More than 900 four-year colleges and universities were queried for the survey by the magazine.
5. Publishing opportunity: The conference provides excellent publishing opportunities with the two journals listed above as well as the ability to interact with members of editorial boards of various other journals.
6. Pedagogical ideas: The conference will also provide a forum for discussion various ideas regarding teaching IB.

Research Submission Guideline 

 
Submissions are accepted online for full papers, research-in-progress, workshops, and tutorials. There are separate tracks for each of the business areas as listed below. Please choose your track while submitting using the template posted on the conference Web page. Contact the program chair, Saurabh Gupta (s.gupta@unf.edu), if you are willing to serve as a reviewer.

• Completed research papers must not exceed 2500 words including all text, figures, and tables. The cover page, abstract, keywords, and references are excluded from this page count.
• Research-in-progress & Replication papers must not exceed 2000 words including all text, figures, and tables. The cover page, abstract, keywords, and references are excluded from this page count.
• Panel proposals must include the names and affiliations of panelists who have agreed to participate and a 1-2 page summary of the topic, including a description of how the session will be structured.
• Industry case studies may report specific strategies being employed or under development to address CPR issues and should be no longer than 3500 words.

Paper Submission  

Proceedings 

Electronic proceedings will be published on the conference website. The conference team is working with the Florida Electronic library to potentially place the proceedings in a larger digital library.

Conference Fees 

Conference registration is US$200 per participant. A $50 late fee applies for registration fees paid after the deadline. Individuals who are not presenting a paper at the conference are invited to participate in the conference. Regular registration fees apply. Registration will open on 15^th October.

About UNF:  

The University of North Florida (UNF) is a public university located in Jacksonville, in the U.S. state of Florida. The university currently has an enrollment of more than 16,000 students, and employs over 500 full-time faculty. UNF is organized into five colleges which offer 53 undergraduate degree programs and 28 graduate-degree programs, with noted business, coastal biology, nursing, nutrition, and music programs.  The campus is nestled among 1,381 acres that include nature trains and areas reserved for nature and wildlife habitat. The Robert W. Loftin Nature trails encompass 500 acres of wild Florida, a portion of which affords legal protection to a variety of animals since 1972. 

Conference History 

The Coggin College of Business’ International Business Research Conference was begun in 2001 through the vision of Jeff Steagall (now Dean at Weber State University) and Alojzy Nowak (Vice Rector University of Warsaw). The conference went from a one day format focusing mostly on encouraging UNF faculty and students to share research on International Business to its current format that includes participants from over 50 countries around the globe. Now in its 13^th year, the conference has proved to be an important opportunity for scholars around the world, exchange partners and Coggin faculty to exchange ideas on all areas of business, politics, study abroad and teaching of international business. In 2013 the conference will begin a new chapter as it will be jointly sponsored by Coggin’s new Center for Sustainable Business Practices.
