The Chief Information Officer sets the overall direction for technology through strategic planning and evaluation.  He provides leadership, planning and management for all areas of information technology strategy, development and implementation.

 

Lance Taylor is a native Floridian and has lived in Jacksonville since 1959. 


Taylor attended private and public schools in Jacksonville and graduated from UNF in 1974 with a BA in Computer Science. He obtained his MBA from UNF in 1986. 


With the exception of a brief stint in the private sector, Taylor has worked at UNF since 1974, working as a student lab assistant, programmer/analyst, Associate Director of Computing Services, Director of Computing Services and now in his current position as Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer.  

His professional interests include cloud computing, information security, and education and research networks. In addition to his role as CIO, Taylor is a board member of Florida LambdaRail, a limited liability company owned by the public and private universities in Florida.
