 UNF-VRS Interpreting Institute Partnership Offers Master’s Degree Concentration in Interpreting Pedagogy

For the first time in interpreter education history, academia and industry have collaborated to build an exciting opportunity, offering interpreters a chance to earn a Master’s degree that will prepare them to teach the interpreting process in colleges and universities. Known for its reputable faculty and innovative Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in ASL/English Interpreting, UNF is a forerunner in distance learning for Interpreter Education. VRS Interpreting Institute (VRSII) and UNF are combining their expertise, energy, and resources to deliver a leading edge MS Degree in ASL/English Interpreting, Concentration: Interpreting Pedagogy. VRSII’s world-class training facility offers on-going education for Interpreting Education Program (IEP) graduates and IEP educators. 


APPLICATION DEADLINE IS March 31, 2018. All materials must be received by this date to be considered for admission.

Quick Facts:

  • 33 credit hours of online course delivery with two summer sessions (10-12 days each) in Salt Lake City, UT at VRSII
  • Attend the program with a cohort of 15 select students
  • Take two classes each semester except the last summer session, which includes internship
  • Completion time = 18 months
  • In-state tuition may be available within the Southern Regional Education Board area (AL, AR, DE, GA, KY, LA, MD,  MS,  OK, SC, TN, TX, WVA).   • Reduced tuition rate available outside of the southern region (see the right-hand column in the spreadsheet found at: http://www.unf.edu/tuition)
  • Salt Lake City accommodations provided by VRSII during summer sessions
  • Graduation from UNF in Jacksonville, FL
  • UPDATE ON OUT-OF-STATE STUDENTS: UNF can accept and enroll students from any of the 47 SARA participating states, plus DC and several territories. Students from SARA states may now begin the process of completing applications for Summer 2018 (Interpreting Pedagogy).
